Bio for Tina Dupuy

The daughter of mouth-foaming Christian revolutionaries, Tina was born into a splinter sect so fringe, it makes normal cult apologists shudder. This has given her a rather unique take on life. “My parents were missionaries, not to be confused with ‘mercenaries’ because that would actually be cool.”

An irreverent yet unassuming humorist, Tina was born for the work. ”Prostitutes are known for their hearts of gold. You never hear anyone say that about satirists,” she laments.

Sometimes an anti-social commentator, sometimes a comedian and always a wedge issue enthusiast, Tina is currently an award-winning writer and a freelance investigative journalist. Her work has appeared in such publications as the Los Angeles Times, Fast Company, LA Weekly, Newsday, Orange County Register, The Beast and the LA Daily News among others. Her weekly political column is nationally syndicated through Cagle Cartoons.

She’s the editor at Mediabisto’s FishbowlLA and has a page at True/Slant.

This is what people are saying about Tina:

“Tina Dupuy is among the smartest, funniest women I know. Scratch that. Among the smartest, funniest people I know. Her reading at my THINKING ALLOWED show at the IMPROV could not have been sharper. Dupuy might just be the one we’ve all been waiting for, the person who can bring gonzo journalism into the twenty-first century.” –Dylan Brody

“Tina is not merely funny, and not merely smart– she has the wit and will to make people think.” –Dave Saldana

“You’re writing is very muscular.” –Author Joe Loya

“Whenever you are dreading reading about politics, check out Tina’s blogs because you will walk away a happier person.” Lydia Popp

“Does anyone know what this filthy whore is even talking about?” –Pastor Fred Phelps, of the Westboro Baptist Church.

She lives in Los Angeles, California.
